And here’s something interesting, well-behaved dogs can often accompany you to outdoor shopping plazas, pet bakeries, ice cream shops, and sporting events too!

To make things a little easy for you, listed below are some of America’s best pet-friendly destinations.

Mountain scenery, fresh air, you and your furry friend, what more do you need? Bring your dog with you to Colorado Springs to hike some trails and soak it all in. A few of the sites that allow you and your furry companion, Garden of the Gods, the Manitou Cliff Dwelling, and the Cripple Creek District Museum.

Stretches of clean white sand bring you to the remote beach town of Key West. While you laze around on the beach, your furry friend gets to run around, enjoy the beach, play in the water etc. What’s more? Bars here welcome dogs, like Louie’s Backyard. You can even take your dog with you on a kayak, Lazy Dog Kayak is a local outfitter that can take you and your pup on a paddling adventure, and there’s a dog-friendly sandbar nearby too.

A family favorite for many, this place also has affordable vacation rental properties and mountain cabins, many of which are pet-friendly. Did you know? You could even bring your dog with you on the Gatlinburg Sky Lift to get to the top of the mountain and hike on hundreds of trails that stretch through the forests and streams.

From dog-friendly bars to park, you name it, and Austin has it all. A few fun places to play with your dog here are the Barton Creek Greenbelt and Zilker Metropolitan Park. Oh and don’t miss the Groovy Dog Bakery for a sweet treat and when in Austin you can take a yoga class with your dog!

Loads of sunshine and a mild climate all year long, make Albuquerque a unique vacation destination for you and your pup. While in Albuquerque, you can visit one of the many dog parks here, as well as pet-friendly hotels and restaurants. The White Sands National Park in Alamogordo is dog-friendly and a beautiful southwestern destination to hike among the sand dunes.
